Southern California culture is heavily influenced by the local beaches and the Pacific Ocean. Each area has its own flavor, whether it is surfing culture or the college students looking for sun on the sand. We also all know there is just some sort of magic associated with the sunsets and the warm beauty they create. This gallery is all about my experiences of the scenery that is this beautiful coastal area.
It's getting more and more difficult to see the stars across the night sky. Many of us live in giant metro areas, forcing us to miss out on seeing all the stars. The lights of the city drown out the visibility of seeing the stars. Since I grew up in the country primarily, I had no idea how spoiled I was to be able to look up into the darkness and see all the constellations glitter across the sky's canvas. There is something so magical about being out in the darkness in the middle of the night, and looking up at the stars twinkling across the sky. The more I take images of the starry skies, the more i enjoy it. The darkness forces me to slow down and that pace allows me to reveal in the beauty of the landscape. The scenery takes on a different shape after the sun goes down.
There is something that just takes your breath away when hiking all day, reaching an opening in the terrain, and being able to look out over a vast canyon carved into the earth over time. The same is true when climbing into the earth to explore the tight canyons. This gallery is all about landscape images with canyons.
The Lower Arroyo Bridges portfolio is an exploration of 2 bridges located in Pasadena, CA. These bridges are storied with history, are both in use today. The Colorado Street Bridge (also Known as suicide bridge) was opened in 1913, was an engineering marvel for it’s time, and was part of old historic Route 66. This bridge is still amazing today with it’s curves, and the way the sunlight plays through it at different times of the day. The Ventura Freeway Bridge is much newer, but is an amazing architectural lovers dream. It has arch after arch in its design and a beautiful layout that creates new twists and angles everywhere you walk.
